Inquiry (采购产品): Special Project Abington Police Department will celebrate its 100th anniversary on May 13, 2006. As part of our celebration, we plan on burying a time capsul. SPS, a local manufacturer, has built us a stainless steel box which measures 23 3/4" (inside dimensions). Our plan is to place the actual contents that we wish to store inside sealed vessels and place them inside this box. The whole thing will then be buried and a bronze plaque has been made to cover it and indicate when it is to be opened. Our first thought was to use a few pieces of large diameter PVC pipe with end caps glued on. However, the Smithsonian Center for Materials Re3search and Education advises not to use PVC "as some of its chemical components are naturally unstable and break down in a process that cannot be reversed and will release acids into the canister." They advise instead to use "large diameter polyethylene pipe" with the ends sealed. This is why we now turn to the J. P. McElvenny Co. Do you have large diameter polyethylene pipe with suitable end covers that we could use for this purpose? Since we would like to maximize the storage space in the capsule, we would like to fill up the inside of our 23 3/4" (I.D.) box as completely as possible. I'm guessing that three, 6" I.D. cylinders, or two 8" I.D. cylinders would do it. Each could be up to 23" long, with the end caps installed and each would have to be watertight when sealed. 1. Can you supply this kind of material and how much would it cost? 2. Could we have it by the end of April? 3. Do you have any other ideas for what we are trying to achieve?
