Request for Info Inquiry (采购产品): Request for Info Please see attached SOW and sketches ATK Heat Treatment Statement of Work 1.0 New hardware will be fabricated to facilitate the development of a new NASA space launch vehicle. This fabrication effort will include the heat treatment of D6ac steel forgings for use in a rocket motor nozzle. Process simulation articles will be forged and rough machined to the same dimensions as the nozzle parts and will have the same mechanical properties (except as noted below) but will be forged from commercial grade 4340 due to schedule and availability. The requirements for the heat treatment are discussed below. 2.0 Nozzle hardware to be heat treated (see attached sketches) CLV Forward Exit Cone CLV Throat Housing CLV Forward End Ring 3.0 The heat treatment shall be conducted using an austenitize, quench and double temper process to achieve the mechanical properties discussed below. The quality requirements contained in AMS-H-6875 for temperature control and furnace certification are desired. The preferred heat treatment method shall follow specification STW 7-2710 with change to the temper temperature to achieve a reduced strength level. Deviations to these desired requirements will be given equal consideration and should also be submitted. 4.0 Material and Properties Material: D6AC Steel per ATK specification STW7-2709 Ultimate Strength: 180 to 200 ksi Fracture Toughness Minimum: 70 to 90 ksi?in Rough Machined Forging Weight: 5000 lbs max. Material: AISI 4340 Ultimate Strength: 180 to 200 ksi Fracture Toughness Minimum: 70 - 90 ksi?in Rough Machined Forging Weight: 5000 lbs. Max. 5.0 Applicable Heat Treat Specifications reference documents ATK specification STW7-2710 Heat Treatment, Alloy Steel, D6AC, For Space Shuttle SRM Nozzle Components. This defines the requirements for using the salt quench method. AMS H 6875 Heat Treatment of Steel Raw Materials AMS 2750 Pyrometry 6.0 Quantities First deliveries: 2 each of each configuration in August 2006 (pathfinders made from AISI 4340 commercial grade for initial heat treatment qualification effort) Program needs: 20 to 25 of each configuration over a 2 – 3 year period. 7.0 Ground rules and other information a. Please identify any potential facility issues (lack of salt quench, crane weight capacities or other handling issues, etc.) b. The forward exit cones have historically been tempered with the large ends clamped together to prevent distortion. Please identify if facilities are adequate to temper 2 at a time or if separate tooling fixtures will be needed. c. ATK will require submittal of manufacturing process baseline planning documents 8.0 Timelines March 30, 2006: Initial response from supplier with ROM costs per piece and interest in providing heat treat services. Would like a preliminary sketch or description of planned process flow at this time also. April 3 – 7, 2006: Visits to potential suppliers by ATK Team to discuss requirements in detail, our intended qualification plan, our documentation requirements, supplier experience and recommendations, etc. April 11, 2006: A final version of the SOW will be issued to all interested parties following site visits by ATK and discussion of any details and issues relating to this RFQ. The final response due April 27, 2006 will be based on this final SOW/RFQ. April 27, 2006: Final responses from suppliers with pricing and lead times from receipt of forging, etc. May 12, 2006: Final source selection 9.0 Points of contact for any questions: The following people are available to field any questions and will coordinate questions with ATK team for resolution and response. All questions and responses will be formally shared with all suppliers during the bid process to maintain continuity. 1-Bill Reish 435-863-5322 2-Alan Rader 435-720-0261 3-Doug Ball 435-279-0444 **** Hidden Message ***** Bill Reish PO Box 707 Brigham City, UT 84302 USA Company: ATK Thiokol Title: Major Subcontract Admin Phone: 435-863-5322 Fax: 435-863-8823 E-mail: william.reish@atk.com **** Hidden Message ***** william.reish@atk.com |
