Inquiry (采购产品): Micro holes Hello, Looking over information provided about your business, I noticed you can machine holes (or sell equipment capable of machining holes) as small as .0005” diameter. I work for GM Powertrain Div. in Bedford, Indiana and we manufacture aluminum transmission cases using high pressure die casting. We also build much of the tooling used in these dies. These aluminum transmission cases have numerous mounting bosses and act like a blind holes in the tool steel which trap air/gasses and are hard to fill. When this happens, these bosses end up with porosity inside the aluminum and if the boss is used in a critical area like passing hydraulic transmission fluid, they will leak. Another critical situation arises when the boss is drilled or machined for an o-ring and the o-ring must seal on this machined surface. This too will cause a leak if the o-ring happens to lie on a porosity hole. With the possibility of machining holes or slots smaller than what aluminum can pass through (.006” or less), it may be possible to vent the air and gasses through these small holes in the tool steel and eliminate porosity. So I have questions about micro machining. 1. Does your company custom machine parts or do you just sell equipment for this machining? 2. If you do machining, how do you price small laser machined holes and slots and how long does it take? 3. Could you send more literature or contact me explaining in more detail the process and type of equipment necessary?
