hi temp plating Inquiry (采购产品): hi temp plating I have metal tubes that are 1" OD, 7/8" ID, 5" long. There is a “window” cut in the side of the tube. This tube is used as a “catch-tube” for catching slag from hot-cutting another metal product. Molten slag from a plasma-cutter falls into this window and sticks to the inside of the tube. I am looking for a different tube material, or coating that will allow us to easily remove the slag from the inside of the tube. I have tried hot-rolled steel tube, and the slag is very hard to remove from the ID. I have tried stainless steel tube, and the slag is easier to remove, but still time consuming. I have tried copper tube, and the slag doesn't stick, but the tube gets too hot and soft very quickly. I have tried a non-stick weld spray, which works pretty good, but I have to keep adding it for every single plasma cut, which is not possible. I have tried pouring a castable ceramic on the tube ID, but the final cured surface was too rough, and the ceramic was too brittle so it didn't last long. The ideal surface would withstand high temperatures and be very smooth on the ID, so that the slag can be easily knocked off. I can reduce the slag, but not eliminate it 101%. I am looking for a tube material/or/coating that will withstand factory use. I talked to one plater and he said that a decorative chrome plating probably wouldn’t hold up. I found Tungsten to have a high temperature rating (6098F). I found your company in Thomas Register under "Tungsten plating". Do you know of a material that would work for this? **** Hidden Message ***** Keith Phillips 63640 Company: PlaypowerLT E-mail: keith.phillips@ltcps.com **** Hidden Message ***** keith.phillips@ltcps.com |
