fluorescent lighting questions

Inquiry (采购产品): fluorescent lighting questions Hello. I am designing a device that needs a fluorescent component, but I’m unsure about some basic things regarding the technology. I would really appreciate your assistance in the form of a response to the following concerns. Is there a minimal space requirement for the area in a light tube where the physics of the fluorescent activity is taking place? I have need of a double-hulled transparent cylinder made of a very strong polymer (or fused silica, or maybe even sapphire crystal) that features a fluorescent light effect between the two walls of the structure’s double hull, and the distance between the inner surface of the outer hull to the outer surface of the inner hull where the fluorescent activity is proposed to take place is only 1/16”. Feasible? If it’s not feasible with the traditional single electrode at each end of the light tube in this type of application (given the minimal space), could some extra electrodes strategically located within the tube solve the problem? Another idea, if valid, would alter my design and could solve the problem of the small amount of space I alluded to, so I’d also appreciate your response to this; in order for the phosphor in a fluorescent light to accept the energy of the ultraviolet photons, so visible photons will be emitted, does the phosphor have to be exposed directly to the ultraviolet photons, or does it just have to have the invisible light of the ionized mercury vapor “shining” on it, i.e., can the physics necessary to generate visible photons take place if the phosphor itself is separated from the ionized mercury vapor by a thin transparent wall? Lastly, how harmful is it for humans to be exposed to, or be in proximity to, low pressure mercury vapor (ionized or not)? In other words, how harmful would it be if the containment mode of a custom-made form of one fluorescent light completely sealed the phosphor material, but was somewhat less than perfect in sealing the mercury vapor (and does prolonged exposure to mercury vapor cause any sort of breakdown to plastics or metals)? Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response.
