Wrought Iron Pipe Longevity in Hydronic Heating System Appli
Inquiry (采购产品): Wrought Iron Pipe Longevity in Hydronic Heating System Applications I am looking for some specific information on the life of wrought iron pipe in old hydronic heating systems. I am a retired ME that has been been asked by a church in Memphis to assess the life of an under-floor pipe labrynith hydronic heating system consisting of 1,1-1/2, and 3 inch NPS SWI (I assume the "S" is for "Strong" wt. wrought iron as opposed to XS and XXS.) This system was installed in 1958 underneath a marble floor in a 600 seat sanctuary. It has been in operation continuously since with no water treatment; however, to my knowledge, it has never been left dry for any length of time. Can you provide me with a clue as to how to find any information on the corrosive history's of similarly applied wrought iron systems? I have searched the net and found very little to nothing about this subject. I believe the pipe is bell & spigot with lead sealing, but this is currently unknown. It may be that such systems are OK for hundreds of years, but I would like to base my statements on something beside supposition. IF you have any such clue or info or lead you can provide, I would be apprecative of such info. Sincerely, J. Clay Hall, P.E.
