Inquiry (采购产品): Auto radiator Cowl - prototype production Greetings, I am looking to upgrade a part that is now produced as a one off part set - prototype quantity. Currently I have a mold used to produce a gel coat covered sprayed composite fiberglas Radiator cowl in "one off" sets. This mold was made from an original metal stamped part about 0.0312 thickness (1/32 inch) on a sturdy marine plywood base. Currently a local fabricator makes the Cowl sets on an as needed basis, usually 1-3 sets at a time using a sprayed in process. My cost is about $150 a set, finished. These Cowl sets are for a very limited production 1970's British Car made by Triumph - British Leyland, a Triumph Stag. Triumph / British Leyland went out of business in 1981. This Cowl set is in two halves, top and bottom that together measures roughly square, 19 inches on a side and about 3 inches formed depth with a 17 inch diameter off center opening. I have an original metal part to use for checking purposes. I do not have any dimension drawings or CAD / 3D drawings, nor do I want that expense. I need to take this Cowl set to a simpler manufacturing process such as thermoforming using a suitable thin plastic sheet such as ABS or carbon fiber impregnated plastic. I would like to keep the cowl set as thin as possible using currently available products while still retaining strength and regidity. I believe the existing mold - in two pieces, is suitable to be modificated and adapted to a vacuum thermoform process which was one of the considerations used when the mold was fabricated. If your company can work within my current pricing range and produce prototype quantities within a 3-4 week order request cycle, after the new mold is developed, please contact me.
