I am an expert in all aspects of valve repair, actuation, modification, field service, etc. I have supervised numerous turnarounds at all major oil refineries here in Southern California. I speak fluent Spanish and have excellent written and verbal communications skills and a sharp eye for detail. Attended U.C. Berkeley, studying in pre-med. Left College to enlist in the U.S. Navy. Military Experience: U.S. Navy. My title was Machinist Mate. My duties were to repair, maintain and operate: Evaporators, generators, turbines, pumps and valves. Work History: California Valve Repair/W.F. Amans, Inc. - June 1971 through June 1996 One week after completing my tour of duty, I obtained employment at California Valve Repair, a machine shop in Signal Hill, Ca. My duties began in breakdown, then to assembly, fitting, testing, machining, welding, modifications, actuation, Shop Foreman, Shop and Field Supervisor. I left to start my own business, “The Valve Doc” June 1996 to March 2004 - Owner and operator of “The Valve Doc” a full service valve repair/field service machine shop, located in Norwalk, Ca. I sold that business in March of ’04. I am currently employed with D.K. Valve in Long Beach, Ca. I perform all aspects of valve repair and field service. My current wage is $30.00 per hour (expected wage negotiable) Work Experience: I am an expert in all aspects of machining (manual only-no CNC), valve repair and modification. Including, but not limited to: Gates, Globes, Checks, Ball, Plug, Butterfly, Stockham Wedge Plugs, Wilson-Snyder Block valves, Orbit, General Twin Seals, W.K.M. Power seals, Pressure Seal and Blow-Down Valves. I became a certified welder-ASME Section 9 in 1975. I allowed my certificate to lapse in 1986, when as shop foreman, I hired another certified welder, affording me more time to focus on other areas. Although, I still weld as necessary. In approximately 1980, I began supervising field service jobs on various oil refineries, during turnarounds and any other necessary maintenance regimes. In the position of Field Supervisor, I am an active participant in every step of the repair process. The work done under my leadership is always completed ahead of schedule, under budget and without incident. Both Shell Oil and Powerine Oil requested that I give seminars to the plant operators, with regards to "Emergency valve repair" in the field. Oil refineries where I have performed field service duties include, but are not limited to: Arco, Ultramar, Texaco, Shell Oil, Unocal, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, GATX, Powerine Oil, Paramount Petroleum, etc. I have also done field service for: The Gas Co., Edison, L.A. County Sanitation District, D.W.P. and numerous colleges and hospitals. Units that I am familiar with include, but are not limited to: Cogen Units, coker, crude oil units, cat crackers, hydro crackers, ISO unit, alky unit, HCU, LSFO, hydrogen, etc. I work well with others and am a team player. I speak fluent Spanish (4 years in High School) and have worked with and supervised Spanish speaking employees for many years. I am an expert in my field and enjoy what I do.
