Engineering Inquiry (采购产品): Engineering Dear Sir or Madam: I have over 25 years experience in manufacturing / industrial engineering covering a wide range of industries, products, processes, and functional areas. Specific areas include automotive and appliance wiring harnesses, lean manufacturing techniques, project management, MRP-II systems, and continuous improvement. I am willing to relocate to any area; my salary requirements are open. I am available immediately. I am open to travel, I have a current US Passport, and am bilingual English / Spanish. I have copied my resume in text format below. I appreciate your consideration for any positions you may have available. Please contact me through the email address listed below. Sincerely, William S. Previous operations support the final operation. * Project Management / Multi-Discipline Approach: Coordinated new product introductions using team approach with representatives from all areas; including Product Engineering, Quality, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Accounting, Sales, and the customer. Utilized Microsoft Project software to plan, update, and advise all parties of project status / progress. * Kaizen 5-S: Assisted in the implementation of 5-S philosophy. Work teams did weekly evaluations; a management representative did monthly evaluations. Results were tracked and posted within the cell. * Kan-Ban: In areas where "one piece flow" was not practical due to machine capacities, implemented Kan-Ban system based on cell requirements. In certain areas, operators contacted the suppliers directly for raw material requirements. * Poke Yoke: Where possible, fixtures and tooling were designs so that parts only fit in the correct way. Color coded visual aids with written instructions and quality criteria mandatory at each workstation. Electronic "Pass / Fail" monitoring at each workstation where practical. * Employee Involvement / Teams / Pay for Knowledge: Participated in the implementation of the "Team" approach plant wide. Acted as "coach" on a rotating basis among teams with daily and weekly meetings. Teams were responsible for tracking and posting performance measurements such as 5-S compliance, internal PPM, productivity, attendance, and turnover. "Pay for Knowledge" based on the employee's ability to perform different job functions; not necessarily the operation they were assigned to. Gained flexibility across functional operations and productivity. * QS9000 / ISO 9000: Succeeded in attaining Chrysler Pentistar and Ford Q1 recognition. Awarded Holley Automotive Supplier of the Year Award. Successfully completed QS9000 certification on the first audit. Maintained certification for more than 5 years with no major non-compliance issues. Latest information available to me showed an internal PPM of 400 and an external PPM of 31. * Responsible for quoting material, labor, tooling , and equipment for all new products. Developed new quotation process which reduced quote turnaround time from 30+ days to 10. Worked with plant controller to develop and apply overhead / burden rates. * MRP-II: Successfully implemented changeovers from one MRP-III system to another, the again to yet another. Acted as local Team Project Leader for the second implementation. Real time information made available to floor operators via terminal in each cell. * Results: WIP reduced more than 50%. Customer quality improved from over 1,000 PPM to a low of 9 PPM. Overall plant productivity (including indirect labor and downtime) improved from 55% to 85%. 1987 - 1989 Echlin de Saltillo Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico Automotive and appliance wiring harness manufacturer. Manufacturing Engineer * Participated in the transfer of manufacturing operations from a facility in South Bend, Indiana to Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. * Acted as lead manufacturing engineer in the introduction of $8 million of new automotive battery cable business. * Implemented Cellular Manufacturing approach. 1984 - 1987 Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Fort Wayne, Indiana Copper and aluminum wire drawing and enameling. Consulting Industrial Engineer * Implemented $350K in annual indirect labor cost savings. 1981 - 1984 Stupp Brothers Bridge & Iron St. Louis, Missouri Structural Steel Fabricator Manager, Industrial Engineering * Directed administration and maintenance of standard data incentive pay plan previously developed by outside consultants. * Uncovered several errors in consultant's original data that were leading to gross inequities in performance potential and dissatisfaction among employees. This lead to the company's abandonment of the incentive pay plan and dissolution of the industrial engineering department. 1980 - 1981 American Car & Foundry St. Louis, Missouri Rail Car Manufacturer Industrial Engineer * Maintenance and application of incentive pay plan. 1976 - 1980 A. P. Green Refractories Company Mexico, Missouri Refractory brick and related products manufacturer Industrial Engineer * Development and application of standard data for incentive pay plan. * Obtained MTM certification. * Roving relief supervisor for 24/7 operation. * Transferred to Freeport, Texas as assistant to the plant manager. 1975 - 1976 York Division - Borg Warner Corporation Madisonville, Kentucky Residential HVAC manufacturer. Manufacturing Engineer * Responsible for all engineering support to an outdoor condenser product; including sheet metal stamping, copper tubing bending, painting, and assembly line. * Design of assembly jigs and fixtures for sheet metal fabrication, tubing, and brazing. * Lead local engineer for introduction of new heat pump product line.
